Far North Americana
Since meeting up in a seedy backwater pub in 2023, Ruto has been working on bringing the dark Americana vibe to Northern Sweden, through a blend of blues, gospel and folk music. The name of the band is derived from an old Sámi shamanistic symbol of the rider, believed to be a harbinger of bad tidings - a spirit of despair. Mixing heartbreaking stories of love, folklore, hope and loss, Ruto breathes life into the history of Sápmi and Northern Sweden in a way that has seldom, if ever, been done before.
Ruto's music is what you might hear if you get lost in the woods, and find yourself drawn to a solitary campfire, with a lone storyteller sat beside it.
We combine an acoustic sound with soulful choir, and riveting electric guitar in a meeting between new and old. But center stage is always the storytelling.

Our music is suitable for both smaller venues and medium sized stages. We re-size our sound and lineup between semi-acoustic, and full rock act, depending on the stage and the intended audience.
